Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!
This past weekend was my sister’s Baby Shower.
We did it a little differently than originally planned, but everything turned out beautiful and she really seemed to enjoy her day!
My sister has been a dancer for most of her life; she’s currently a dance teacher and I think at this point everyone in my family is assuming that her future daughter will follow in her footsteps (or, I should say, follow in her chassés).
I put together this cute themed basket for the shower, and it was a hit! Bonus: it only requires a few items and is super easy to make.
To make this cute basket, you’ll need:
• a pink tutu (I got this one)
• a small or medium sized basket (I got this two pack)
• a pink bow (I got this one)
• colored ribbon (optional; here is a pack of colors)
• a hot glue gun and glue (I have this set)
The most important thing is to make sure that the tutu you get is large enough to fit over the rim of the basket you get; check the size and measurements of the tutu as well as the measurements of the basket.
Mine ended up being a bit snug because I didn’t have extra time to shop around for a basket (I would’ve liked one with a handle, too), but it worked out just fine!
Okay, so now that you’ve got all of your supplies, it’s time to put them together!
Pull the tutu up around the basket (I went from the bottom of the basket up); depending on how tight the fit is, you may have to pull the tutu up a little at a time by the end.
Secure the tutu to the basket by placing a few spots of hot glue inside the waistband of the tutu, and then press and hold it against the basket for 30 seconds or until it has dried enough.
Next, place your bow on the front of the basket. The one I got was a hair clip, so the clip part was able to stick directly into the weaves of the basket.
I placed it right above the tutu waistband so it overlapped with both the basket and the top of the tutu. You can also use hot glue to stick your bow on.
If you want to add some more curled ribbon around the bow, or around the entire tutu waistband, you can do so with hot glue as well! I decided to skip that step because I thought the basket looked good without it.
And there you have it! A cute, quick, and easy themed basket. We used mine to hold photo booth props at the Drive By Baby Shower. 🙂
If you do make this basket, please share photos or let me know how it went in the comments below!
