A Look Inside My Suitcase: Family Vacation 2019

Hi all,

I just got back from my annual family vacation and am excited to share the details and what I packed with you guys.

BUT first, I wanted to let you know that I added a new Shop My Looks page to my blog.

Instead of adding links to photo captions within my post, I’ll be linking all outfit details on this new page, accessible in the main menu of my blog.

Ok, back to my family trip. Every year my dad’s side of the family gets a rental house and we all spend a week together there.

About half of the family lives in Massachusetts and the rest are scattered throughout New Jersey and New York, so we try to pick a middle point for the vacation.

This year, we went to Amsterdam, New York, which is up by Albany.

The rental house was beautiful, as you might’ve seen on my stories if you follow me on Instagram, and it was so lovely to spend a week relaxing while surrounded by my loved ones.

As usual, I wayyy overpacked for this trip, but I don’t regret bringing a lot of extra stuff with me.

I believe in packing extra clothing and shoe options for every vacation because you never know how you’ll be feeling on a given day or whether you’ll want to wear the outfits you actually brought with you.

It helps to have additional things with you and give yourself the flexibility to change up the outfits you planned on wearing.

Here’s a glimpse of what I brought on this vacation with me, what was necessary to have, and even something I wish I’d remembered to bring. 🙂

I’m going to start with the shoes all at once. As you can see, I brought a LOT of shoes with me…I had an entire bag for just shoes, toiletries, and my laptop.

First, I brought a few different pairs of sneakers. I knew I’d want to stay active while on vacation, so I had to bring my running shoes. I also brought two of my favorite casual sneakers to go with some of my outfits.

I limited myself to one pair of wedges, because I knew that I would end up preferring to wear flat shoes and be more comfortable most of the time. I just recently got these Ugg wedges and am excited about them, so I chose to bring them along.

Lastly, I packed a bunch of my most-worn sandals. All of my favorite styles are here; I wanted to have options so that I wasn’t wearing the same shoe every day, and ended up wearing all of the flat sandals shown here.

There are a few key hair products that I bring with me anytime I’m staying somewhere overnight: a scrunching spray, dry shampoo, extra hair ties, and an anti-frizz spray (the Uncommon one shown here is something new I’m trying, and loving so far!).

The scrunching spray and anti-frizz are for when I wear my hair naturally wavy/curly, which I end up doing pretty much every day when on vacation because I don’t feel like dealing with blowdrying and straightening. 😉

I did also bring my Chi hair straightener along with the usual daily toiletries (toothpaste, face wash, floss, etc).

For trips that are more than a couple of days long, I like to bring extra accessories and change up the jewelry I’m wearing.

For this trip, I brought some new things I’ve been loving, including NY&Company earrings, David Yurman dupe bangles from Amazon, and this awesome skull wrap bracelet from Victoria Emerson.

I also brought a statement band for my Apple watch and the Tiffany & Co. initial necklace that I wear every day.

Ok, now getting into the actual clothes I brought with me. First and foremost, I brought a bunch of different blouse and jeans/shorts combinations.

I varied between tank tops, short sleeves, and long sleeves because I wanted to be prepared for different weather and be able to dress depending on how much skin I wanted to expose to the sun each day.

For the most part, it was really hot and I was outside most of the time, so I ended up wearing more short sleeve and sleeveless tops, but we did use the fire pit on a few occasions and it was nice to have longer sleeve options for cooler/more buggy evenings.

Speaking of cooler evenings. one thing I completely forgot to pack was a heavier shirt in case I got cold, which of course I ended up needing because I ALWAYS get cold.

Luckily, we were just down the road from a Target, and I picked up this super soft and comfy gray pullover. It was only $20 and I’ve gotten a lot of use out of it already.

I usually wear my pajamas multiple times before washing them, so I didn’t need to bring a ton of different sleeping clothes.

Shorts, a cami or tee, and a cute headband for getting ready or lounging were perfect for the late nights and early mornings.

I always try to bring at least one more dressy outfit. This time, I was excited to break out my new tassel dress from Lulus. It is ankle-length and a pretty, summery yellow.

As I mentioned, I like to work out even while traveling, so running clothes were a must-have for me.

I love exercising in bright, fun colors, as you can see from my choices pictures here.

The house we stayed in had a pool, which is where I ended up spending a lot of my time!

I brought a few different bathing suits with me, because I wash them after each use. All of them came in handy, whether I was swimming or just laying out sunbathing.

Of course, I brought a few pairs of sunglasses along as well.

Last, but certainly not least, I never go ANYWHERE without bringing some reading material along.

I brought two books with me on this trip; I finished the one pictured here, which was awesome, and started the second, Frog Music by Emma Donoghue.

I read out by the pool, sitting at the kitchen table, up in my room while getting a break from the sun…pretty much any time I wasn’t playing sports, swimming, or spending time with family, my nose was inside one of these two books.

Just as no two people are alike, no two vacations are, either. What you need for your own trips may slightly differ, but I like to think I’ve covered all of the main bases here.

Shoes, accessories, hair/beauty products, a variety of outfits, something to stay warm, a bathing suit, activewear, PJs, and something else to keep you entertained should be all you need to be well-prepared for vacation.

Comment below to let me know if you agree, or if there are any key items I left out! I hope you all have a great trip or exciting outing to look forward to in the future.

Even if you don’t go far, I think it’s important to give yourself a break from the day-to-day and just get away once in a while.

Until next time. 🙂 ❤

The Best Bargain-Priced Sandals for Summer

Hi everyone, and happy Saturday!

I feel like the weather skipped right over Spring and now it’s suddenly super hot every day.

I’m certainly not going to complain about nice weather, or the opportunity to wear all of my new sandals on a regular basis.

With Summer basically upon us, I wanted to share all of the great new shoes I’ve been wearing lately and where you can find them.

As usual, I got all of these on sale and they’re still priced really well.

These Valentino dupes from Amazon are perfect, and such a great bargain at under $20. Valentino is one of my favorite Luxe brands because of their more edgy styles. The rock stud is one of my favorite design elements they use, and these sandals look just like the real thing for a fraction of the price.

My sister actually gave me these Franco Sarto wedges because they were a little too small, and I happily took them off her hands! I’m building quite the collection of wedges lately, but I can’t help it. I love the cute but laid back style that wedges have.

These Steve Madden slides are my favorite new shoe! I love the spikes and I’m also pretty into white sandals this year. I’ve always been a fan of Steve Madden, so I’m not at all surprised to find myself obsessing over something of theirs this season.

Speaking of Steve Madden, these Madden Girl sandals are so sparkly and pretty. I’ll definitely be wearing them on warm Summer date nights this year. I love a versatile shoe, and I could see these pairing well with both casual and dressy looks.

This pair of Sam Edelman sandals is another one I’ve been giving a lot of use so far this year. I do own other Sam Edelman shoes but this is my first sandal from the Circus brand. The first time I wore these, I was pleasantly surprised by how cushioned the sole was. Super comfy and cute!

Those are my Summer shoe recommendations for today!

All of the shoes shown above have lower price points and are really stylish.

I’ve worn and will continue to wear all of them for the rest of this Summer and, most likely, many Summers to come.

You’ll definitely see more Summer fashion finds from me soon, so be on the lookout for future posts.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🙂 ❤

Chic Outfits for the Spring and Summer

Hey everyone!

So…I took a little bit of a break after my 30 day blogging challenge, but I’m back and ready to share a lot of new content with you all!

It’s been raining nonstop here, but I know that means warmer weather is just around the corner, along with pretty, well-watered plants and flowers.

While I wait for the skies to clear up, I’ve been daydreaming quite a bit about outfits that are perfect for higher temperatures.

I’ve put together a few looks that I really like, featuring a lot of discounted pieces, as usual!

Check out the looks below and feel free to comment with your reactions/feedback.

Links to buy are included for everything, as well.

Dress | Sandals | Purse | Earrings

This black and white chevron dress is so easy to accessorize because its neutral colors go with pretty much anything. For Spring, I’d add a mint colored purse from Kate Spade and some pretty arm candy (pictured are the lotus, Stand Up to Cancer, and ‘What’s for you will not pass you’ bangles from Alex+Ani, plus a colorful bangle from a local boutique).

Dress | Heels

This dress is a little more formal; great for a graduation, shower, or any other event you may have coming up over the next few months. Also shown here are a large Kate Spade purse (not currently avail) and a matching necklace/earring set from NY&Co.

Shorts | Top | Sandals | Purse

I love some fun, bright colors in the warm weather! These adorable color blocked shorts are perfect with any white top, and I’ve just been dying to use this Valentino bag that I got at a huge discount from Saks, so here it is. 🙂

Dress | Sandals | Purse

Another pop of color comes from this pretty Boho Factory dress. Shown here with the same sandals and purse as the previous picture, and some added statement earrings (an old pair that I’ve had forever) to complete the look.

Dress | Belt | Bracelets | Shoes

It seems like every time the warm weather comes around I find myself with a new sunflower dress…not that I’m complaining! The dress and belt were both Amazon finds, the shoes I’ve raved about in multiple previous posts, and the bracelet set is from Boho Factory. The earrings, again, are a super old pair.

Easter Sunday Outfit Inspiration

Hi all,

Hope you’re all enjoying the weekend.

For those who celebrate Easter, I’ve got some great inspiration for your outfit tomorrow!

See below for a few different outfits I put together, with links to buy.

Top | Jeans | Heels

This top from Venus is one of my favorites lately. Between the ombre pink color, the sparkles, and a little criss-cross detail on the sleeves, it has so many little details that make it unique and pretty.

Top | Skirt | Heels

I love this yellow skirt for Spring, but it’s especially perfect for Easter. Since it’s so bright and stands out on its own, I’ve styled it with a simple but pretty white top and nude heels.

Dress | Shoes

For those who prefer to wear darker colors, this black dress from Guess is great for many different occasions. I’ve added a mint colored Kate Spade purse to brighten it up for Easter.

Denim Jacket | Shoes

Here’s another way to style the Guess dress shown above. I’ve changed up the purse for an even bolder color, added a cute denim jacket, and swapped the sandals for a flat pair.

Dress | Shoes

For a dressier Easter look, this baby pink midi dress is perfect. It’s light and flowy, and has a beautiful off-the-shoulder sleeve detail. I added these Madden Girl sandals for extra sparkle.

Top| Jeans | Shoes

Here’s another casual outfit if you’re keeping it low-key tomorrow. This light colored top is great for Easter, and the black jeans are super comfy.

Do you already have your outfit picked out for tomorrow, or are you going to figure it out then?

I will probably choose one of the above to wear tomorrow, depending on my mood.

I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend, and enjoy the holidays if you celebrate! ❤ 🙂

On Trend: Top Picks of Leopard Print

Hi all,

For today’s post I’m sharing my favorite leopard print pieces.

Much like the snakeskin trend, it took me a little while to get into leopard print, but once I did I was so happy about it!

There is probably more I’ll add to this in future posts, but for now, here are my favorite leopard print items that I own, with links to buy.

Sneakers

I love these animal print Steve Madden sneakers because they’re so unique. They have a few different animal print patterns and add the perfect pop to a simple outfit.

Flats

These Lulus flats are so cute and can be paired with both dressy and causal outfits. Can’t go wrong!

Cropped Hoodie

The leopard pattern on this hoodie is awesome, and the lightweight material is great for Spring weather. It runs small, so you may want to size up.

Pants

These H&M “Treggings” can be worn as a casual pant or a dress pant. Wearing patterned pants is a bold move for me, but I think these are a great place to start.

Crop Top

This top is really cute with high-waisted jeans. The material is super lightweight and flowy, and it has a flattering, low neckline.

Cardigan

I love the lighter beige in the pattern on this sweater. It’s also slim fitting which I like. I wore this sweater last weekend with a black maxi dress to celebrate the arrival of warmer weather.

What’s your favorite pattern or clothing trend lately?

Comment below to let me know, and I’ll do a future post with my top picks!

Hope you all enjoy these super cute leopard print items. ❤ 🙂

The Best Online Shopping Websites for Women

Happy Friday!

Yesterday I showed some of my favorite Spring shoes, but today I want to focus on where I actually buy the items I feature on this blog.

I’m pretty into online shopping (see my previous post for tips for saving money from a seasoned shopper like myself), and there are a lot of sites I frequently visit.

However, there are a few main favorites that I always go back to, and I want to share those with you today.

This post isn’t sponsored or anything like that, I just love these stores and want to give genuine recommendations to you all!

Tobi

Tobi is my go-to any time I need formal wear.

The dresses are inexpensive compared to other places, and they’re all so gorgeous and flattering!

I always get the most compliments when I’m wearing something from Tobi.

You can see some of my favorite dresses from them here, here, and here.

Lulus

I’ve posted my great finds from Lulus on the blog before, so you guys already know how much I love them.

Their clothes are so stylish, not too expensive, and are great quality.

They have great sales fairly often, too!

Saks Fifth Avenue

I used to steer clear of this store because I figured everything was crazy overpriced, but they actually have great deals on major designer pieces!

I typically only buy items on sale from Saks, but the quality of everything I buy there goes above and beyond.

Hautelook/Nordstrom Rack

Another store I’ve posted about previously, but Hautelook/Nordstrom Rack is another great option for buying luxe brands without having to pay a fortune.

They have new deals every day and they feature a lot of my favorite designers.

Some great finds I’ve gotten from them are here, here, and here.

There are a lot of other stores and websites where I like to shop, but I wanted to highlight a few that aren’t as well known and that carry unique items.

I’d love some suggestions from you guys for new places to browse, though!

Comment below to let me know where you score big when shopping, and thank you for reading my post!

Check back tomorrow for the next one in my April blogging challenge. ❤ 🙂
